Join us and Rep Brett Bowersox for a Cigar Event and Beer tasting.
At the Event we will suggest the pairings of two or three different types of beer that best enhance the flavors of the two lines of cigars below. Don’t drink? Not a problem, we will have some light food as well. Now on to the cigars.
Haven’t heard of Casa Magna or Regius? Well let us enlighten you.
Case Magna is offered through Quesada. It’s a Nicaraguan Puro cigar that has had it’s praises sung by Cigar Aficionado time after time. Cigar Aficionado named The Casa Magna Colorado the 2008 #1 Cigar of the year.
In 2009 they gave it the #12 Cigar of the year. 2010 it was #24 Cigar of the year. and on 2011 is was back in the top 10 Cigars of the year.
*Casa Magna is one of the few cigars to ever make Cigar Aficionado’s top 25 list 4 consecutive years.
Then we have Regius. We snuck this cigar into the lounge back in the fall. It hit the shelves without notice and we let it sit in an obscure spot slowly gaining attention little by little. Last month we moved it to a more noticeable location in anticipation of this event. Regius is a brand made for the Real Cuban Cigar lover. First introduced in Europe, Regius was developed as an alternative to the Cuban Tobacco Market. In London to smoke a cigar is a status symbol, and if it’s not Cuban, its not considered worth smoking. Regius owner Akhil Kapacee wanted everyone to enjoy that Cuban taste, without having to purchase a cigar that was born on the island south of Miami. Using tobacco from various parts of Nicaragua, leaf from multiple primings, and the help of Nester Placencia, Akhil developed a cigar that the Europeans love. It is available at high end London Retailers Davidoff of London, The Ritz Hotel, Manchester St Cigars, and all over the UK. Regius then slowly made it’s way to the USA where it can be found in Manhattan’s premier locations: Nat Sherman, Davidoff, De La Concha Cigars, and The Cigar Inn. Come by next Friday to try a cigar with the most cuban-esque flavor profile we’ve had to date.
