Perla Del Mar Cigars originated in the late 19th century in order to recognize Cuba’s world renowned cigar heritage. With its rich, fertile soil, these cigars were known as some of the most flavorful in the world. Cuba was then called the true Pearl of the Sea (Perla Del Mar).
Now, more than a century later, J.C. Newman has brought this historical name back to the cigar world. These cigars are handmade in the same boutique Nicaraguan factory that makes Brick House.
The Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper with Nicaraguan binder and filler make this cigar a mild stick with a little kick. The price point is perfect and the cigar is a perfect complement to the J.C. Newman line.
Brick House cigars were originally a Cuban puro, made entirely of tobacco from Havana by J.C. Newman. This resurrected cigar is made by J.C. Newman`s grandchildren, Eric and Bobby Newman, with an oily Havana Subido wrapper and Nicaraguan filler tobaccos. It features notes of nuts, spice, and some recognizable maple syrup sweetness. The cigars were given a rating of 90 percent in Cigar Aficionado, and were named the best bargain cigar of 2009.
The brick house depicted on the packaging was J.C. Newman`s childhood home, the only brick house in his village. This house also acted as the town’s tavern; locals and visitors used to gather at the brick house to eat, drink, smoke, and tell stories.
