On Friday, August 5, 2011, the Reliance Engine Company’s First Annual “Up In Smoke” fundraiser, was a huge success thanks to a few very special people. Guillermo Leon, Owner of La Aurora Cigars, La Sirena – Arielle, Danny Ditkowich, owner of Tobacco Plaza, located at 218 Lakeville Road, Great Neck, New York 11020, Miami Cigars, and yours truly – CigarEvents.com, made it all possible. Guillermo Leon, a true gentleman with a big heart, took time out of his busy schedule to attend the cigar event. He mingled with the guests, shared stories and took many photos with the cigar enthusiasts that were present and eager to meet and speak with him. La Sirena, Arielle, was also present to share a smile, a photo or a story. Hundreds of cigars were donated by Guillermo, Danny and Miami Cigars. Many items were raffled off, including several boxes of cigars, cigar accessories, shirts and a $100.00 gift certificate to Tobacco Plaza donated by CigarEvents.com. In addition to the raffles, there was an auction for a box of La Sirena, signed by the Mermaid herself and a box of Leon Jimenez, signed by Guillermo Leon (which is not available in stores) – both auctions included shirts as well as the box of cigars.
Upon arrival at the Volunteer Firehouse in Floral Park, New York, each guest received a gift bag filled with six (6) cigars, a CigarEvents.com cutter and lighter and a 10% discount certificate for Tobacco Plaza. The cigar event was sold out and the firehouse was packed with volunteers and guests. CigarEvents.com provided two beautiful cigar models who posed for pictures and helped with the festivities. There was also a cigar roller and DJ present adding to fun. In addition to volunteering their time to save lives and fight fires, the men also provided the food for the evening, cooked by their very own firehouse chef – and may I say, it was delicious!
I often say that some of the nicest, kindest and most generous people I know I met through smoking cigars. The success of this evening proves this. How many people do you know that would donate hundreds of cigars and take time from their busy schedule to attend an event? A very special thank you to Guillermo Leon, Arielle, Danny Ditkowich and Miami Cigars, not only for their generosity, but for being the kind-hearted people that they are!
To thank all of the people who made this event possible, would be impossible. However, I must mention, Rick, Peter and Lou who were instrumental in orchestrating this event. They made sure the event ran smoothly, that the guests were happy and that all was in order for everyone to have a great evening.
This event was terrific. CigarEvents.com is already looking forward to next year’s event!
THANK YOU TO ALL THE VOLUNTEER FIRE FIGHTERS – YOU ARE ALL HEROES AND WE ARE TRULY GREATFUL!
